At the end of the 2013, thanks to receiving the Helen Gardener travel prize from the University of Cape Town (UCT), I traveled to Ethiopia with urban designer Michael de Beer. Spending over two months in the country, we were able to engage with locals, and learn from their traditions, architecture and urban environments. Having traveled in the past, this trip around Ethiopia has stood out as my most influential and thought-provoking urban and architectural experience. We presented our key insights to the architectural department at the University of Cape Town in a lecture entitled 'No Street is Lonely in Ethiopia'.
