With Space Saloon and Creative Migration

The Climate Crisis Hotline is a participatory artwork that was set up as a functioning voicemail service. Developed at ICA LA and launched through KCHUNG Radio, it operated like a confession booth or wishing well, inviting members of the public to call in and voice feelings of frustration, grief and anxiety caused by the Climate Crisis.

The project was originally commissioned as an installation: a calm, comfortable space for conversation around the topic of Solastasia, the paralysing melancholia induced from environmental distress. During the pandemic, this was reformatted as a series of participatory workshops (online and in-person). The Hotline emerged from this process.
