Sewing Subjectivities considers the costume atelier as participatory performance; a creative and comfortable space in which we support each other's impulses, reacting to fabrics and sewing tools.
Pre-made costume "outlines", crude introductory forms, are readapted, reacted to, cut, folded and added to during a series of improvised sessions. Roles switch as we each have a chance to be either the model or designer. Each participant experiences it in their own way and these characteristics become built into the costumes. Two film cameras record the process (one projected as a live feed) to embody the presence of an observer or audience.
